About the role#
Radiant is hiring a Thermal Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site at our headquarters in El Segundo, California, to support the development of our portable nuclear microreactors.
What you'll do#
- Perform thermal analysis and CFD to evaluate the design and performance of Kaleidos systems.
- Manage the pipeline for creating analysis geometry from mechanical CAD designs.
- Document your findings to provide clear, actionable insights for the team.
- Improve our CFD workflows to increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Build and refine methods for lower-fidelity thermal analysis to support engineering confidence.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Chemical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Ability to work independently on complex engineering problems.
- A proactive approach to asking questions and finding resources to complete tasks.
- Interest in the mission to deploy nuclear microreactors.
- Familiarity with reactor physics is a plus, as is prior internship experience.

- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- The role is 100% on-site in El Segundo, California.
- This position involves technology subject to U.S. export controls. Offers are contingent upon your ability to comply with these regulations.
