About the role#
The Student Sonographer role provides diagnostic patient care services using medical sonography. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Seneca, South Carolina. You will work variable shifts as part of the team at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
What you'll do#
- Perform ultrasound procedures using independent judgment to differentiate between normal and pathological findings.
- Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
- Verify patient identity using two demographic identifiers and review written orders for procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients, introduce yourself, and ensure patient comfort throughout the visit.
- Maintain a sanitary and organized work environment, including stocking supplies and disinfecting transducers.
- Operate the PACS system, verify studies, and ensure all patient consents are signed.
- Perform time-out procedures for ultrasound-guided exams.
- Manage accurate records, handle procedure charges, and assist with daily patient flow.
- Recognize and respond to emergency situations while complying with HIPAA mandates.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or completion of an accredited Sonography program.
- Ability to obtain ARDMS, RVT, or RCS certification within one year of hire.
- Proficiency with departmental equipment and office technology.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, and data entry skills.
- Mathematical skills and familiarity with EMR systems.
- ARRT in Radiology and PACS experience are preferred.
