About the role#
Pratt & Whitney is hiring a Software Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We provide immigration sponsorship for this role if needed. This position is intended for candidates who have previously completed an internship with the company.
What you'll do#
- Develop and optimize embedded flight-software for safety-critical systems.
- Write high-performance, deterministic embedded software code.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and AI/ML specialists to deliver avionics solutions.
- Implement and support AI-assisted onboard features, including sensor fusion and anomaly detection.
- Conduct debugging and validation tasks using simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Actively enrolled in your degree program through the completion of the internship.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the session.
- Experience with high-level programming languages such as C, Python, or C++.
- Experience using Git, DevOps, and AI tools in software development.
