As an HMI Software Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the development of software used by flight crews to operate aircraft and run simulations. You will work on control systems for both remotely piloted and autonomous flight modes, focusing on designing intuitive interfaces that support hands-on control and autonomy management for the Quarterhorse supersonic unmanned aircraft.
What you'll do#
- Develop software for the human-machine interaction program to control aircraft and execute simulations.
- Collaborate directly with flight crews to assess and improve the usability of cockpit software and hardware.
- Work with engineering teams to integrate and control hardware systems through software displays.
- Engage in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and user evaluation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a rising senior, Master's, or Ph.D. student.
- Degree pursuit in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and experience with web application technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or Electron.
- A strong understanding of engineering first principles.
- Experience or coursework in computer graphics and aviation or simulation environments.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Eligibility to access information subject to U.S. export controls.
