About the role#
As a Human Machine Interface (HMI) Software Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the development of software used by flight crews to control aircraft and run simulations. You will work on control systems for both remotely piloted and autonomous flight modes, designing interfaces that range from hands-on controls to point-and-click autonomy management.
What you'll do#
- Develop software for the HMI program used to control aircraft and conduct simulations.
- Collaborate with flight crews to develop and assess the usability of cockpit software and hardware.
- Work with engineers to integrate and control hardware systems through software displays.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, review, testing, documentation, and user evaluation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as a rising senior undergraduate, or as a Master's or Ph.D. student.
- Pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with web applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or Electron.
- Experience with C or C++.
- A strong understanding of engineering first principles.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Atlanta, Georgia.
- The term for this position is Fall 2027.
