About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join the team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sterling, Virginia. You will work on the development, modification, integration, and testing of aircraft and ground vehicle training simulators.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical design and layout of simulator components, structures, and facilities using 3D CAD software.
- Create and review 2D CAD drawings while applying dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure design suitability.
- Support the design of mechanical equipment, electronics cabinets, and custom support structures.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM major.
- Active enrollment in your degree program through the completion of the internship.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Creo Parametric, is preferred.
- Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) software is preferred.
