    About the role#

    Hermeus is looking for a hands-on Structures/Mechanical Engineering Intern to help design, build, and test flight hardware for next-generation aircraft. You will work on mechanical subassemblies across the vehicle, such as landing gear doors, control surfaces, and avionics trays. This role is for students who want to own real hardware and take designs from concept through fabrication, integration, and testing.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the design and development of flight hardware and mechanical subassemblies.
    • Assist with CAD modeling, drawing creation, hardware release, and design updates.
    • Perform hand calculations and engineering analysis to guide design decisions.
    • Build, integrate, troubleshoot, and test prototype and flight hardware.
    • Collaborate with structures, mechanical, manufacturing, avionics, and test teams to support vehicle development.
    • Identify design improvements and incorporate feedback from build and test activities.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.
    • A GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and mechanical design.
    • Hands-on experience with hardware through labs, personal projects, student teams, or previous internships.
    • Comfort working with physical hardware, hand tools, and test equipment.
    • Familiarity with CAD tools.

    • Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Terms available: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
    • Compensation: Paid position.
    • Note: This role requires access to information subject to U.S. export controls. You must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing.
