About the role#
The Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) intern supports the setup, integration, maintenance, and testing of real-time simulation environments. You will connect hardware components with software models to validate flight systems. The role focuses on developing automated tests and keeping test infrastructure reliable for ongoing software development.
What you'll do#
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot HIL test benches and supporting infrastructure.
- Write and maintain automated test scripts for flight software and vehicle systems.
- Perform routine test stand upkeep, including hardware configuration, software updates, calibration, and documentation.
- Debug signal, hardware, software, and communication issues across integrated systems.
- Analyze test results to identify failures and support root cause investigations.
- Collaborate with flight software and engineering teams to improve test coverage and system performance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Julia, or strong experience with Python, MATLAB, or C++.
- Experience developing scripts, automated tests, or software tools.
- Practical experience with hardware integrations and embedded computers like Raspberry Pis, Arduinos, or STM32s.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Familiarity with debugging hardware-software interfaces and communication protocols.
- Ability to work within cross-functional teams.

- Terms: Winter 2027 (January-April) or Summer 2027 (May-August).
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
