    About the role#

    As a Flight Operations Intern, you will support the planning, approval, and execution of ground and flight test activities for advanced aircraft. You will work with flight test engineers, pilots, and airworthiness teams to prepare aircraft and test operations for safe, compliant, and efficient execution. This role is for those with hands-on aviation experience who want to work at the intersection of flight test, operations, and airworthiness.

    What you'll do#

    • Support flight and mission planning, test card development, briefings, debriefs, and test execution.
    • Assist Test Conductors, Test Directors, and pilots during ground and flight test operations.
    • Support airworthiness, airspace, and flight approval activities for military and civil operations.
    • Coordinate aircraft configuration, test requirements, and operational readiness across engineering and flight teams.
    • Support the development of documentation needed for operations in the National Airspace System.
    • Assist with test results, operational observations, and post-test reporting.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuing a STEM degree, preferably in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering.
    • Hands-on aviation or operator experience, such as UAS or drone operations, pilot training, or flight test experience.
    • Understanding of aircraft systems, flight operations, or flight test fundamentals.
    • Familiarity with FAA or military aviation regulations and airspace requirements.
    • Strong technical judgment, communication, organization, and a commitment to safety.
    • Preferred: Experience supporting flight test planning, exposure to Test Conductor responsibilities, experience with large UAS or fixed-wing aircraft, and familiarity with airworthiness processes.
    • Preferred: Experience with statistics, data analysis, Python, or MATLAB.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Terms: Winter 2027, Summer 2027, or Fall 2027.
    • Compensation: $25 to $33 per hour, with final pay determined by degree level.
    • Benefits: 5 days of sick leave, unpaid time off, weekly office lunches, and stocked breakrooms.
    • Eligibility: This position requires access to information subject to U.S. export controls. You must be a U.S. person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62.
