About the role#
As a Drilling Optimization Intern, you will support the engineering team in analyzing drilling performance and maintaining key reports. You will work on projects involving downhole and surface equipment while gaining exposure to drilling automation and product tuning. This role offers the chance to visit active drilling sites to see how equipment functions in the field.
What you'll do#
- Create and maintain performance reports for drilling products like DAS, TFC, Mud Analyzer, and AutoDriller.
- Assist engineers with special projects, investigations, and technical analysis.
- Use business intelligence tools to automate KPI reporting and data delivery.
- Join technical reviews focused on drilling optimization and product tuning.
- Visit active drilling operations to build your understanding of field activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's Engineering program, having completed at least your second year.
- Preferred majors include Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite.
- Familiarity with upstream oil and gas terminology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to various audiences.
- A collaborative mindset and openness to mentorship from senior engineers.
- Assets include experience with Python, R, Spotfire, or PowerBI.

- This is a full-time, paid, rolling internship based in Calgary, Alberta.
- The role follows a hybrid work model.
- A satisfactory criminal record check is required before starting.
