About the role#
Strathcona Resources Ltd. is hiring an Engineering Summer Student for a four-month term starting in May 2027. This position is based in Cold Lake, Alberta, and offers hands-on experience within a thermal oil operation. You will work directly with field operations, maintenance, and production engineering staff to see how engineering decisions affect safety and reliability in the field.
What you'll do#
- Support daily production activities through data gathering, review, and reporting.
- Work with field operations staff to troubleshoot well performance issues.
- Monitor production, downtime, and operating performance trends.
- Perform data quality reviews for wells, pads, and surface equipment.
- Assist engineers and technologists with daily tasks and special projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a mechanical, chemical, petroleum, or related engineering program.
- Completion of at least one year of post-secondary studies.
- A strong interest in field operations and hands-on learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Comfort working in a field-based setting.
