    About the role#

    AltaGas is looking for Engineering students to join teams across our business for the Summer 2027 term. Depending on your background and our business needs, you may be placed in Automation and Controls, Operations Engineering, or Integrity and Reliability Engineering. You will work with experienced professionals on projects that support the safe and efficient operation of our energy infrastructure.

    What you'll do#

    • Support automation, control system, and operational technology projects.
    • Assist with the maintenance, testing, and optimization of industrial control systems.
    • Analyze operational and process data to identify trends and performance improvements.
    • Support system upgrades, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and technical specialists.
    • Support projects focused on facility performance, reliability, and efficiency.
    • Assist with engineering studies, reporting, and risk management.
    • Develop tools, models, and processes that support operations.
    • Support equipment reliability, asset integrity, and lifecycle management.
    • Assist with preventive maintenance optimization and criticality assessments.
    • Support maintenance readiness activities.
    • Participate in engineering projects from planning through execution.
    • Analyze technical data and present findings and recommendations.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an Engineering co-op program.
    • Pursuing a degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Mechatronics, Civil, or a related discipline.
    • Availability for a 4-month or 16-month work term starting in May 2027.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • High attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
    • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
    • A valid driver's license.
    • Comfort working in an industrial setting.
    • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
    • Term: Summer 2027 start (4 or 16 months).
    • Role: Full-time, paid, on-site.
