About the role#
As a Transportation Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting transportation operations and the technology solutions that enable them. Depending on your skills and business needs, you will be placed within either Rail Transportation or Transportation Software Development. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that support daily operations and business objectives.
What you'll do#
Depending on your placement, you will contribute to one of the following areas:
- Support the safe and efficient movement of products by rail through shipment tracking, document management, and Bill of Lading (BOL) processing.
- Manage database maintenance, reporting, and data quality initiatives.
- Organize and standardize transportation documentation and processes.
- Assist with railroad pattern updates and waybill management.
- Collaborate with logistics, commercial, and operations teams to support product movements.
- Develop, test, and maintain internal business applications and software tools.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Participate in team planning cycles and project sprints to deliver technology solutions.
- Work with technologies such as C#, ASP.NET Blazor, Entity Framework, HTML/CSS, and Microsoft Azure.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in the second or third year of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Exposure to programming, databases, transportation, logistics, or data analysis is an asset.
