About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based on-site in Highland Heights, Ohio. You will join the IT/IS department to gain hands-on experience in security operations and threat analysis.
What you'll do#
- Learn and use tools within the security operations center, such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, and case management software.
- Monitor logs and events to identify threats and investigate anomalous activity.
- Analyze security incidents to find the root cause.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training to educate employees on handling compromised systems.
- Research security enhancements and share recommendations with management.
- Stay informed on developments in information security and the broader IT industry.
- Create a security capstone project to summarize your learning during the internship.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Technology, Intelligence, or a related field.
- You have an interest in cyber security and general computer literacy.
- You possess introductory knowledge of security concepts like AV and firewalls.
- You have strong analytical skills and good verbal and written communication.
- You can work effectively with customers and team members.
- You are able to lift 25+ lbs.
- Experience with Windows, Linux, coding, scripting, or relevant security certifications (such as CISSP, GSEC, or GCIH) is a plus.
