About the role#
This internship provides support for the planning, design, evaluation, and maintenance of the electric transmission system. Interns work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and construction teams to develop foundational knowledge of transmission line engineering principles while contributing to the safety and reliability of energy infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Support transmission line engineering activities related to the design, evaluation, and maintenance of overhead transmission lines and structures.
- Assist with the analysis of engineering data, drawings, and calculations, including loading, clearances, and constructability considerations.
- Prepare and review field investigation data, engineering studies, and technical documentation.
- Review field inspection and construction reports to confirm work aligns with engineering standards and approved designs.
- Support the evaluation and application of new tools, technologies, and engineering methods to improve the safety, reliability, and affordability of transmission projects.
- Assist with field work, including site visits, inspections, measurements, and asset verification.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Commitment to continuing education toward a degree during or after the internship term.
- A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification.
- Reliable transportation to and from the assigned work location.
