About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the Transmission Line Engineering group. You will work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, and field construction teams to support the design, evaluation, and maintenance of overhead transmission lines and structures. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering activities related to the design, evaluation, and maintenance of overhead transmission lines and structures.
- Analyze engineering data, drawings, and calculations, including loading, clearances, and constructability considerations.
- Prepare and review field investigation data, engineering studies, and technical documentation.
- Review field inspection and construction reports to ensure work aligns with engineering standards and approved designs.
- Assist with field work, including site visits, inspections, measurements, and asset verification.
- Evaluate and apply new tools, technologies, and methods to improve the safety, reliability, and affordability of transmission projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education toward your degree during or after the internship.
- A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred.
