About the role#
As a Substation Engineering Intern, you will support critical infrastructure projects including equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, and reliability enhancements. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain exposure to the design, construction, and operation of transmission and distribution substations. This role is a full-time, paid summer internship designed to provide hands-on experience in utility engineering.
What you'll do#
- Promote safe work practices in accordance with corporate safety policies.
- Support team members in the design of transmission and distribution substations using specialized software.
- Assist in creating and updating technical drawings, including single line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, and indoor and outdoor equipment arrangements.
- Collaborate with various departments such as maintenance, construction, asset strategy, and distribution planning.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality design products that meet budget and schedule requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- A cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
- EIT or FE certification is preferred.
