About the role#
As a Substation Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support the design and infrastructure projects for the company. This role contributes to the interconnection of generation, capacity demand increases, and system reliability improvements across California. You will gain exposure to the broader Substation Engineering organization while collaborating with departments such as Maintenance, Construction, Asset Strategy, Distribution Planning, Standards, Protection, and Automation.
What you'll do#
- Actively promote safe practices in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy.
- Support team members in the design of Transmission and Distribution Substations using specialized software for indoor and outdoor equipment.
- Assist in the creation and updating of technical drawings, including single line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, and indoor and outdoor arrangements.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality design products that meet budget and timeline requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education full-time during or after the internship.
- Completion of coursework in power systems.
- Possession of or progress toward EIT or FE certification.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location.

- Work Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation of working in the office approximately 2 days per week.
