Substation Engineering Intern

About the role#

As a Substation Engineering Intern, you will support critical infrastructure projects involving transmission and distribution substations. You will work alongside experienced engineers on equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, and reliability enhancements, gaining exposure to the design, construction, and operation of the electrical grid. This is a full-time summer 2026 internship.

What you'll do#

• Actively promote safe practices in accordance with corporate safety policies.
• Support team members in the design of indoor and outdoor substation equipment using specialized software.
• Assist in creating and updating technical documentation, including single-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and control room layouts.
• Collaborate with various departments, including maintenance, construction, asset strategy, and protection and automation.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality design products on time and within budget.
• Travel up to 10% of the time within the service territory.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• EIT or FE certification is preferred.
