About the role#
As a Substation Engineering Intern, you will support critical infrastructure projects that enhance the reliability and capacity of the electrical grid in California. You will work alongside experienced engineers to gain exposure to the design, construction, and operation of substation systems while contributing to projects that support residential, commercial, and industrial demand.
What you'll do#
- Support substation projects including equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, and protection and control improvements.
- Assist team members with Transmission and Distribution Substation designs for both indoor and outdoor equipment.
- Create and update technical drawings, including single line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, and control room layouts.
- Collaborate with various departments such as Maintenance, Construction, Asset Strategy, and Distribution Planning.
- Promote safe work practices in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy.
What you'll need#
- Currently earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education towards your degree during or after the internship.
- Cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 or greater.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
- EIT or FE certification is desired.
