About the role#
The Non-destructive Examination (NDE) Intern will join the Applied Technology Services group to support inspection technology development, asset condition assessment, and integrity management. This role involves working alongside senior engineers, scientists, and technicians on initiatives related to pipeline safety, electric asset reliability, and advanced inspection methods. This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist senior staff with laboratory testing of materials, welds, and components to characterize degradation such as corrosion and cracking.
- Evaluate and validate NDE technologies, including ultrasonic, radiography, and eddy current methods.
- Perform data acquisition, signal processing, and analytics to support asset integrity assessments.
- Support the development and deployment of custom inspection tools and robotic platforms.
- Conduct field inspections, pilot demonstrations, and technology implementation projects.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and engineering analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education toward a degree during or after the internship.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in both cumulative and major coursework.
- EIT or FE certification is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
