About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to the Electric Distribution Design and Estimating department at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. You will support the design, construction, and maintenance of electric infrastructure while gaining exposure to utility operations. This is a full-time, paid, hybrid position for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Perform technical work related to the design, construction, maintenance, or operation of Electric Distribution assets.
- Assist in designing underground and overhead electric infrastructure.
- Prepare construction drawings, charts, graphs, and sketches.
- Analyze engineering data and support administrative office activities.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality design products on time and within budget.
- Travel up to 10% of the time within the service territory.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or Data Science at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education towards your degree during or after the internship.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative and major GPA.
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one 30 days prior to start date).
- EIT or FE certification is preferred.
- Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members.
