Engineer-In-Training Intern

About the role#

As an Engineer-In-Training Intern, you will support the Transmission and Substation Engineering Services Department. You will work alongside experienced engineers to assist with the preparation and delivery of training courses and onboarding plans for new cohorts. This role involves contributing to projects that support California's electrical infrastructure, including capacity demands and system reliability improvements.

What you'll do#

• Actively promote safe practices and conduct in accordance with the Corporate Safety policy.
• Foster teamwork and innovation to accomplish work efficiently and effectively.
• Develop and maintain automation tools and templates to improve engineering and design processes and training deliveries.
• Assist with updating utility standards and procedures for Substation Engineering and Design.
• Support training delivery by collecting feedback, taking notes, and helping with action planning for program improvement.
• Collaborate with various departments, including Maintenance, Construction, Asset Strategy, and Planning.

What you'll need#

• Currently earning a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering/Science, with graduation expected within two years of the start date.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one at least 30 days prior to the start date.
• EIT or FE certification is preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.

• Location: Oakland, California.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Work Modality: Hybrid (travel within the service territory is expected 10% of the time).
• Status: Full-time, paid internship.
