Electric Underground Asset Strategy Intern

About the role#

The Electric Underground Asset Strategy Intern will support the Electric Strategy & Asset Management team in planning and maintaining the distribution network. This role involves working with experienced engineers and program managers to improve the reliability and performance of electric distribution assets. Interns will have the opportunity to conduct field visits to observe equipment construction and gain practical knowledge of underground distribution systems, with field travel anticipated at 30%-50%.

What you'll do#

• Monitor temperature alarm devices deployed in the field.
• Assist with ongoing asset replacement projects.
• Support the preparation of the 2026 asset replacement workplan.
• Collect and analyze data to inform long-term asset strategy plans.
• Participate in the research, development, and deployment of GLDS technology.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field at an accredited university.
• Must be continuing education toward a degree during or after the internship.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA in both cumulative and major coursework.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Desired: EIT or FE certification.
• Preferred: Prior engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or consulting.
