About the role#
The Electric Distribution Planning team at Pacific Gas and Electric Company is seeking an intern to support critical engineering functions. This position involves ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the electric distribution system through technical support and planning.
What you'll do#
- Develop long-term and short-term capacity plan recommendations.
- Monitor area substation and circuit capabilities while tracking corresponding loads.
- Perform planning studies to model the electric distribution system accurately.
- Analyze historical loads and project future growth.
- Prepare and initiate switching plans to alleviate normal deficiencies and minimize emergency issues.
- Prepare settings for protection and voltage regulation equipment.
- Review requests for new large load additions and analyze outages to develop reliability improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education toward a degree during or after the internship.
- A minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one at least 30 days prior to the start date.
