About the role#
The Electric Distribution Planning team supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the electric distribution system. This internship provides technical support for planning, design, construction, and maintenance functions, with a focus on equipment capacity, voltage, power factor support, and system reliability.
What you'll do#
- Develop long-term and short-term capacity plan recommendations.
- Monitor area substation and circuit capabilities and track corresponding loads.
- Perform planning studies to model the electric distribution system.
- Analyze historical loads and project future growth.
- Prepare and initiate switching plans to alleviate normal and minimize emergency deficiencies.
- Prepare settings for protection and voltage regulation equipment.
- Review requests for new large load additions.
- Review outages and develop plans to improve reliability.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Must be continuing education full-time during and/or after the internship.
- 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative and major GPA.
- Coursework or concentration in power systems engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
