About the role#
The University Health Care Student Assistant supports the department with administrative tasks and clerical work. This is a part-time position open to students, including those with Federal Work Study. The schedule is determined by the supervisor, with a limit of 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 35 hours during breaks.
What you'll do#
- Greet visitors and assist them upon arrival at University Health Care.
- Answer phones and take detailed messages for staff follow-up.
- Schedule appointments for patients.
- Enter demographics and insurance information into the Electronic Health Record system.
- Answer questions regarding department procedures and general inquiries.
- Handle clerical tasks including filing, photocopying, shredding, and sending faxes.
- Assist with various department projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable and patient demeanor when interacting with visitors.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Previous office experience is a plus.
