About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by providing an overview of store, district, and regional operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and participate in key learning experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify details when necessary.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations, and educate patients on the importance of vaccines.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions while complying with all relevant laws and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
