About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the SouthPark Dermatology department. You will work on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 am to 5 pm. This role offers exposure to laboratory tasks, document management, and care coordination while supporting the daily operations of the medical team.
What you'll do#
- Escort patients to exam rooms and conduct interviews.
- Measure vital signs and collect patient histories.
- Perform screenings and prepare patients for physical examinations.
- Assist with walking transfers, dressing, and collecting specimens.
- Organize health information, including exam results, lab tests, and treatment plans.
- Verify that reports and lab results are available in patient records before appointments.
- Review forms to ensure they are complete and signed.
- Communicate with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Obtain and send medical records.
- Administer injections after completing the required training.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or a degree from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
- Status as a student on track to return to medical school or complete a Physician Assistant program.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification.
- Completion of Hepatitis B and Flu vaccine forms, or submission of a declination form.
- Completion of a TB test.
- Ability to lift and support 35 pounds.
- Capability to perform physical tasks like walking, standing, reaching, and bending.
