About the role#
The Imaging Patient Assistant Student provides essential support to the Imaging Department. You will act as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists while ensuring patients receive care appropriate to their age and needs. This role involves maintaining department efficiency through administrative tasks, patient transport, and equipment upkeep.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients in preparation for exams and provide instructions regarding routine procedures.
- Transport and escort patients, families, and visitors as needed.
- Use radiology computer systems to manage requisitions, schedules, and patient records.
- Organize and clean exam rooms, stock supplies, and perform routine maintenance on imaging equipment.
- Greet patients and handle requests for information, reports, or film loans.
- Answer telephones, screen calls, and schedule appointments.
- File, retrieve, and release health information records and films.
- Compile film jackets and discs while completing necessary documentation.
- Communicate patient observations and needs to the healthcare team.
- Assist with the screening and documentation of MRI implants.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- High school diploma, GED, or HSED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
- Competence in IV insertion and venipuncture.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, including experience with electronic mail and applications.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing or pulling with 30 lbs of force, and performing sliding transfers.

- Pay Range: $18.85 - $28.30 per hour.
