About the role#
This position supports a pediatrics clinic by handling both appointment scheduling and medical assistant duties. You will provide direct care to patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider and assist with the delivery of health services. This is a part-time role for a college student.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service to patients, guests, and family members.
- Ensure all patient forms are completed and paperwork is gathered.
- Input patient and guarantor demographic and financial information.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions.
- Perform vital signs, screenings, and obtain height, weight, allergy, and medication history.
- Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, and answer questions.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments by phone or in person.
- Adapt communication and behavior to meet the needs of the specific patient population.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications, keyboarding, and general data entry.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.
- Related experience in a clinic or medical office setting is preferred.
- Certifications such as CHAM, CHAA, or Medical Assistant are preferred.
