About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This position involves working directly with pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly while gaining exposure to store, district, and regional workflows. You will contribute to a safe, inclusive environment while focusing on patient care and operational accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and time with district leaders.
- Assist the pharmacy team in filling prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures across all stations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers as allowed by state regulation.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members while sharing best practices.
- Support patient health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and staffing offsite clinics where permitted.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and strong mathematical reasoning skills.
- Capability to remain upright and mobile for extended periods, with the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- 1+ years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Willingness to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
