About the role#
Pratt Miller, an Oshkosh company, is hiring a Design Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time, on-site role is based in New Hudson, Michigan. You will apply your existing skills to solve engineering design and development problems while expanding your knowledge base. You will work individually under the guidance of a Senior Design Department Mentor or collaborate with a small team to execute customer projects across the motorsports, automotive, defense, and commercial industries.
What you'll do#
- Participate in vehicle system design and development.
- Engage in product design and development.
- Assist with virtual prototype development and engineering analysis.
- Provide support during testing phases.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program for Materials Science, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering.
- Experience with CAD and parametric 3D modeling.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of materials and processes used in structural products.
- Familiarity with testing techniques to validate product integrity.
- Experience with software such as ProE, Unigraphics, CATIA, Solidworks, IDEAS, or Mechanical Desktop.
- Experience with Ansys, NASTRAN, or Optistruct for linear static structural analysis.
- Technical writing skills for reports and specifications.
- Ability to meet ITAR/EAR requirements, which includes being a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
