About the role#
As an Autonomy & Active Safety Engineering Intern for Summer 2027, you will work alongside Oshkosh engineers to develop, integrate, and demonstrate robotics, perception, and vehicle control technologies. You will own a technical project and gain hands-on experience by working on real vehicle platforms, test benches, or simulation environments. This role offers the opportunity to receive mentorship and collaborate with professionals across software, systems, controls, electrical, and mechanical disciplines.
What you'll do#
- Own an impactful technical project related to autonomy, active safety, robotics, perception, embedded controls, or vehicle systems.
- Develop, integrate, test, and demonstrate work on real vehicles, test benches, or simulation environments.
- Develop and evaluate computer vision and machine learning capabilities.
- Integrate sensors and computing platforms, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS/IMU, and high-performance edge computing hardware.
- Support embedded vehicle control and unmanned vehicle systems development.
- Develop or test software using Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, or other engineering tools.
- Work with vehicle networks and systems such as CAN, powertrain, braking, and steering.
- Collaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to integrate individual capabilities into larger vehicle systems.
- Evaluate emerging technologies for real-world applications.
- Perform engineering calculations, analysis, design, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Present project results and technical recommendations to engineering teams and project stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- At least sophomore standing for undergraduate students.
- Programming experience with Python, C/C++, or a similar language.
- Ability to work at least 12 weeks, beginning in late May or early June through August.
