Orion Steel is seeking a Steelmaking Intern to join the team in Pueblo, Colorado, for the Summer 2026 term. This internship provides hands-on experience in an operational manufacturing environment, focusing on the development and improvement of equipment Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. Interns will work closely with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to review existing practices and ensure procedural accuracy.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations employees to gather information on equipment, energy sources, and isolation points.
- Utilize LOTO software to create, edit, and maintain Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Conduct equipment walkdowns with staff to verify details and ensure procedural accuracy.
- Review existing LOTO procedures and update them to reflect current conditions.
- Develop diagrams, labels, and visual aids to ensure procedures are clear and effective.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a technical engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Power BI.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment, including both indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Heavy industrial experience is preferred.
