About the role#
The Process Technology Co-op Student will join the Process Technology department at the Orion Steel manufacturing facility in Red Deer, Alberta. This is a full-time, paid position for the Fall 2026 term. You will gain exposure to core operations including pipe forming, welding, heat treatment, and threading while working on-site to support testing and process improvement.
What you'll do#
- Participate in specialized tubular testing projects.
- Review process data to identify non-conforming conditions and coordinate with the QA department to address them.
- Conduct process analyses using statistical process control and data collection techniques.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage testing processes and ensure accurate data and sample collection on the production floor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a recognized Engineering program at a Canadian university, with at least one year of the program completed. Preference is given to students in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering.
- Foundational knowledge of engineering principles, specifically statics and strength of materials.
- Proficiency with MS Office and strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter mindset with a commitment to safety and a passion for continuous improvement.
