About the role#
Orion Steel is seeking an HR Intern for our Pueblo, Colorado location for the Summer of 2026. This role offers hands-on experience in a unionized manufacturing environment. You will support daily HR operations, workforce administration, and site-level initiatives while interacting with employees and operation leaders.
What you'll do#
- Facilitate front-line employee customer service by resolving questions regarding policy, benefits, leaves, timekeeping, and general HR processes.
- Maintain employee files, update HRIS data, prepare reports, and support audits.
- Assist in planning and executing site events to strengthen culture and retention.
- Participate in HR process improvement projects, including analyzing HR data to develop dashboards and other solutions.
- Develop a working knowledge of HR legal requirements to support day-to-day operations and ensure regulatory compliance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- Completion of sophomore year.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to handle confidential information and communicate with professionalism.
- A results-driven attitude focused on accuracy, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
- Ability to work in an operational mill setting, including exposure to environmental and outside conditions, while following safety procedures.
- A valid Colorado driver's license.
