HR Intern

About the role#

Orion Steel is seeking a Human Resources Intern to join the team in Pueblo, Colorado, for the Summer 2026 term. This role provides hands-on experience within a unionized manufacturing environment, focusing on daily HR operations, workforce administration, and site-level initiatives. You will work directly with employees and operational leaders to support the business and its workforce.

What you'll do#

• Provide front-line customer service to employees by resolving questions regarding company policy, benefits, leaves, timekeeping, and general HR processes.
• Maintain accurate employee files, update HRIS data, prepare reports, and assist with audits.
• Support the planning and execution of site events designed to strengthen company culture and retention.
• Participate in process improvement projects, including analyzing HR data to create dashboards and develop solutions that enhance the employee experience.
• Develop a working knowledge of HR legal requirements to support day-to-day operations and ensure regulatory compliance.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
• Completion of sophomore year of undergraduate studies.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• A results-driven mindset with a focus on accuracy, execution, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in an operational mill setting, including exposure to environmental and outside conditions, while adhering to all safety procedures.
• A valid Colorado Driver’s License.
