About the role#
Orion Steel is offering a summer internship focused on supply chain management. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in purchasing, inventory management, logistics, and material management. You will work both independently and as part of a team to support the Purchasing department through data-driven analysis and reporting.
What you'll do#
- Provide analytical support to the Purchasing department.
- Assist in inventory management reporting and capturing key purchasing KPIs.
- Develop data pipelines using SQL and gather requirements from team members.
- Create reports and dashboards to inform decision-making across the company.
- Leverage large, complex data sets to derive insights for strategic sourcing and cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, and Planning.
- Perform data gathering, validation, cleaning, and compilation from various sources.
- Assist with routine administrative duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or Computer Science, with at least one year of study completed.
- Proficiency in SQL is required.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in spreadsheet modeling.
- Ability to manage change requests and adapt quickly to new software.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of R or Python is considered a plus.
