Purchasing Intern

About the role#

Orion Steel is offering a paid, full-time Purchasing Internship for Summer 2026. This role provides hands-on experience in supply chain management, including purchasing, inventory, job site material management, and logistics. You will work both independently and as part of a team to support the Purchasing department.

What you'll do#

• Provide analytical support to the Purchasing department.
• Assist in inventory management reporting and capture key purchasing KPIs.
• Develop data pipelines using SQL and assist in data gathering, validation, cleaning, and compilation.
• Create reports and dashboards to inform decision-making across the company.
• Leverage large data sets to derive insights for strategic sourcing and cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Finance, Operations, and Planning.
• Identify data anomalies and ensure data quality in collaboration with technical and functional teams.
• Handle general administrative duties as assigned.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or Computer Science, with at least one year of study completed.
• Proficiency in SQL is required.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in spreadsheet modeling.
• Ability to manage change requests.
• Quick learner regarding new software and system architecture.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge of R or Python and material procurement is considered a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in the USA.
