About the role#
This position supports the daily operations of the Library and Learning Commons at the Okanagan College Penticton campus. Under direct supervision, student assistants help maintain library spaces, assist peers with college services, and ensure equipment remains functional and accessible for the campus community.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic maintenance of the library collection, including re-shelving materials and sorting items by call number.
- Assist students with navigating online services, student portals, and learning management systems.
- Maintain the cleanliness of student workstations, public desk areas, and library spaces.
- Provide basic printing support, such as replacing paper and toner.
- Issue student ID cards according to established procedures.
- Monitor and record library usage through gate counts and occupancy tracking.
- Take inventory of supplies and report equipment issues to regular staff.
- Perform end-of-shift duties, including powering down monitors and clearing physical spaces.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Okanagan College.
- Proficiency in following both oral and written instructions.
- Strong time management, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Previous experience in library, IT, or customer service settings is considered an asset.
