About the role#
This student position supports the daily operations of the Okanagan College Library and Learning Commons. You will work under direct supervision to maintain library spaces, assist students with college services, and ensure equipment is properly managed. This role is a paid, on-site, non-regular, on-call appointment.
What you'll do#
- Perform maintenance on the library collection, including re-shelving materials and sorting them by call number.
- Assist students with navigating the college's online services, student portals, and learning management systems.
- Provide basic printing support, such as replacing paper and toner.
- Maintain cleanliness in library and learning commons areas, including student workstations and public desks.
- Issue student ID cards following established procedures.
- Monitor and record space usage, including gate counts and headcounts.
- Perform end-of-shift duties, such as securing equipment and clearing physical spaces.
- Report equipment issues or supply shortages to regular staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Okanagan College.
- Proficiency in following both oral and written instructions.
- Strong time management, writing, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Previous experience in library, IT, or customer service environments is considered an asset.
- Priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
