About the role#
This position supports the basic operations of the Library and Learning Commons spaces at Okanagan College. Working under direct supervision, you will assist with daily maintenance, student support, and administrative tasks to ensure the library remains an organized and functional environment.
What you'll do#
- Perform maintenance of the library collection, including re-shelving materials and sorting items by call number.
- Assist students with navigating the College’s online services, student portals, and learning management system.
- Maintain limited services at the circulation or help desk when regular staff are unavailable.
- Provide basic printing assistance, such as replacing paper and toner.
- Issue student ID cards according to established procedures.
- Count and record the number of people using the library and learning commons spaces.
- Tidy student workstations, public desk areas, and ensure the proper care of computers and equipment.
- Conduct inventory of supplies and report any equipment issues to staff.
- Perform end of shift duties, including clearing physical spaces and powering down monitors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Okanagan College.
- Proficiency in following both oral and written instructions.
- Strong time management, organizational, and writing skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Previous experience in a library, IT, or customer service role is considered an asset.
- Priority will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.
