About the role#
The Co-op Consultant for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) acts as a primary liaison between students, employers, and the university. You will manage an assigned geographic territory to develop, coordinate, and monitor career-related work opportunities. This role requires autonomy, as you will work from a home-based office while collaborating with campus-based staff to ensure the success of the co-op program.
What you'll do#
- Develop co-op work positions to meet the departmental goal of 100% employment each term.
- Create and execute a marketing plan to promote students by researching and developing new job opportunities.
- Conduct development calls with potential employers and deliver professional presentations.
- Advise employers on ethical recruiting strategies and maintain the recruiting database.
- Assist employers in drafting job descriptions and monitor the quality of posted positions.
What you'll need#
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree.
- Three years of related experience in job development, employment advising, or sales and marketing.
- A comprehensive understanding of the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, along with current employment market conditions.
- Knowledge of Laurier’s academic and co-op programs and the principles of experiential learning.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexibility to respond to students and employers after hours when necessary.

- Modality: On-site (requires travel within the GTA).
