About the role#
Novelis is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for our Greensboro, Georgia facility for the Summer 2027 term. This is a 12-week, full-time, on-site position reporting to the Engineering Leader. You will join the Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability, and Automations (EMRA) team to support aluminum production. You will gain exposure to industrial machinery, maintenance, and reliability practices while working alongside operations and process teams.
What you'll do#
- Support the EMRA team with plant maintenance, repairs, and process improvements.
- Use CAD software to design tools and equipment, overseeing their implementation.
- Generate reports on project progress and communicate findings to supervisors and plant personnel.
- Collaborate with outside contractors to scope and specify new equipment for operations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop new safety protocols.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 4-year university as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or recent graduate.
- A major in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Applied Engineering, or a related field.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
- A strong interest in pursuing an engineering career within a manufacturing environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- A commitment to industrial safety and safe working practices.
- Experience with mechanical systems, hand tools, and CAD programs is preferred.
