The responsibilities as a mechanical engineering intern will vary day to day as the position is involved in many different aspects of engineering. The responsibilities of a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Nucor include, but are not limited to: Design and implementation of new systems and modification of existing equipment Improve production and maintenance processes, keeping accurate documentation for all improvements in the area of responsibility. Provide technical expertise with regard to mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Failure analysis/troubleshooting Work in cooperation with other departments or teams Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.Minimum Qualifications: Seeking a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering (Aerospace and ISE will be considered) Minimum collegiate GPA of 3.0 or higher Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future). Preferred Qualifications: Finite Element Analysis (Nastran/Patran or similar) Experience with SolidWorks, 20/30 CAD, and/or other equivalent modeling software.
