About the role#
This internship offers a hands-on introduction to the commercial side of the scrap metal recycling business. You will work alongside teammates and leaders to build a foundation in scrap buying, material grades, market trends, pricing, and logistics. The role requires frequent travel and working outdoors in an industrial environment under various weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily safety meetings and uphold safety, housekeeping, and operational standards.
- Shadow commercial teammates during interactions with suppliers, customers, and vendors.
- Assist with market research, prospect identification, customer follow-up, and sales preparation.
- Learn scrap metal identification, quality control, inventory practices, and facility operations from a commercial perspective.
- Complete a summer-long business project and present your recommendations to division leadership.
What you'll need#
- Rising junior or senior status working toward a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or Supply Chain Management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships, collaborate, and work efficiently within a team.
- A relationship-driven approach with a focus on customer service.
- Willingness to relocate after graduation.
