About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is hiring Actuarial Interns for the Summer 2027 program. You will join one of our core teams, such as Personal Auto Pricing, Property Pricing, Commercial Lines Pricing, or Reserving. This is a paid position that provides hands-on experience with real business problems and professional development opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Learn about the insurance industry and apply basic actuarial techniques to solve business problems.
- Use Excel, SQL, SAS, and PowerBi to gather, transform, and extract insights from data.
- Lead a pricing or reserving project from start to finish.
- Develop recommendations based on your analysis.
- Present your findings to management and other departments.
- Conduct research and provide support for ongoing projects alongside our actuarial team.
What you'll need#
- Current Sophomore or Junior status pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, or a related quantitative field.
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to work effectively both on a team and independently.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A self-directed approach to learning and a willingness to study Property & Casualty Insurance.
Location & details#
- This internship is based on-site in West Trenton, New Jersey.
- You must be able to commute to the West Trenton office.
- The pay range for this role is $21 to $25 per hour.
