About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is hiring a Law Clerk Summer Intern for our Law and Regulation team. This paid internship provides second-year law students the chance to build legal research, analysis, and writing skills within an in-house legal department. You will work directly with our legal team at our West Trenton headquarters during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Contract Management team to review business agreements like statements of work and non-disclosure agreements.
- Conduct research on compliance topics and respond to inquiries from various business units.
- Assist with legal referrals to gain exposure to insurance-related legal questions.
- Support the Complaint team by reviewing responses to the Department of Insurance.
- Participate in compliance audits to understand how regulations apply to company operations.
- Research corporate requirements and other legal matters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a second-year law student.
- Strong skills in legal research, writing, and communication.
- High attention to detail.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Interest in contracts and regulatory law.
- Ability to commute to our West Trenton, New Jersey office.
- Experience on a law review or law journal is preferred.
- A writing sample that demonstrates your research and writing abilities.
- Interest in a career within an in-house legal department.
