About the role#
NiSource is seeking a Summer HR Intern to join our team for a 12-week program starting in May 2027. This position is for students entering their junior or senior year in fall 2027. You will work within our Human Resources department, gaining a broad overview of our operations and the utilities industry. This role is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with various HR teams including Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Payroll, Benefits, HRBP, Compliance, Employee relations, Labor relations, HR technology, and Talent strategy.
- Complete meaningful tasks and work with managers on important projects.
- Build professional relationships with fellow interns and personnel across the company.
- Participate in professional development exercises and team-building activities.
- Gain insight into current events within the utilities industry.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university with a major in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Organizational Effectiveness, or Organizational Communications.
- Completion of intermediate-level coursework.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Columbus, Ohio, at the Arena District.
- This is an on-site position. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location to be eligible.
- The internship runs for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
