About the role#
The New York Post is seeking a Sports Reporting Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This part-time position offers hands-on experience in the media industry, requiring 24 hours of work per week. Interns will work directly with experienced journalists to produce content for digital and print platforms.
What you'll do#
- Write, produce, and edit stories for digital and print publications.
- Cover live sports events, including MLB games, NBA and NHL practices, and press conferences.
- Uncover and pitch fresh story ideas for publication.
- Collaborate with the sports video department to create daily content.
- Assist in executing and optimizing the social media strategy for sports coverage.
- Work under tight deadlines to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of breaking news.
What you'll need#
- Experience working at a college newspaper or website.
- Deep knowledge of sports, with a specific focus on New York teams and local sports culture.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the writing style of the New York Post.
- A willingness to work hard and gain practical experience in a newsroom environment.
- Enrollment as a junior or senior in a bachelor's program, current master's student, or a recent graduate within the past year.
- Majors in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, English, or Political Science.
