About the role#
The New York Post is seeking a part-time Sports Reporting Intern to join the team for the Fall 2026 term. This role offers hands-on experience in sports journalism, requiring interns to contribute to digital and print publications while working alongside experienced professionals. This position is part-time at 24 hours per week and requires on-site attendance at our Midtown Manhattan office. The program runs from September 14, 2026, to November 20, 2026. This opportunity is open to current juniors and seniors pursuing a BA, MA students, and recent graduates who completed their degree within the past year.
What you'll do#
- Write, produce, and edit stories for digital and print publications.
- Cover live sports events, including MLB games and press conferences.
- Pitch fresh story ideas for publication.
- Collaborate with the sports video department to create daily content.
- Assist in the execution of the sports social media strategy.
- Work under deadlines to produce timely and accurate reporting.
What you'll need#
- Experience at a college newspaper or website.
- Deep knowledge of sports, with a focus on New York teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the New York Post writing style.
- A desire to work hard and gain professional experience.
- Relevant academic background in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, English, or Political Science.
