- Build power systems with real-time EMT simulation under supervision, incorporating GTFPGA or GTSOC units.
- Integrate, test, and use user-written black box models in PSCAD and RSCAD for solar inverters, battery energy storage systems, and other advanced power electronic-based systems.
- Evaluate studies examining the impact of high percentages of inverter-based resources on power systems.
- Write and publish analysis results in peer-reviewed journals and technical reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or completion of a degree within the past 12 months.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Experience with power system EMT software tools such as PSCAD, RSCAD, or MATLAB/Simulink.
- Solid knowledge of modeling and control of inverter-based resources.
- Knowledge of co-simulation between PSCAD-RSCAD and PSS/E-PSCAD.
- Understanding of RTDS modeling and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
- Ability to present technical results to multi-stakeholder audiences.
