    About the role#

    The III-V semiconductor group is seeking an intern to assist in the development of large area semiconductor processing and characterization. This role is part of the DOE’s METALLIC initiative. You will work within a research team to help meet specific project goals while gaining hands-on experience in device processing and material analysis.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist in processing and characterizing III-V semiconductor materials, including solar cells.
    • Implement cleanroom processing of electronic devices, such as lithography, metal deposition, and chemical etching.
    • Use characterization techniques to determine the quality of materials and devices, including X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, and optical probing.
    • Perform current-voltage measurements to evaluate device performance.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
    • A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
    • Ability to meet educational requirements prior to the employment start date.
    • Preferred: Experience with cleanroom processing, specifically lithography and chemical etching.
    • Preferred: Experience characterizing semiconductor materials using techniques like X-ray diffraction or electron microscopy.

    • Location: Golden, Colorado.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
    • Term: Rolling.
    • Employment is subject to Department of Energy access restrictions, including the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card and a favorable background investigation. All offers are conditional upon passing a pre-employment drug test.
