The III-V semiconductor group is seeking an intern to support the development of large-area semiconductor processing and characterization. This role contributes to the DOE’s METALLIC initiative by helping the team meet specific research goals while providing the intern with hands-on experience in device processing and material analysis.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the processing and characterization of III-V semiconductor materials and devices, including solar cells.
- Implement cleanroom processing procedures for electronic devices, specifically lithography, metal deposition, and chemical etching.
- Perform characterization using techniques such as X-ray diffraction, microscopy, luminescence, and current-voltage probing to determine material and device quality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD program in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card, which includes a favorable background investigation.
- Preferred: Prior experience with cleanroom processing, including lithography and chemical etching.
- Preferred: Experience in characterizing semiconductor materials and devices using techniques like X-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, or luminescence.
