About the role#
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is seeking two student interns to support research and educational activities within the Strategic Energy Analysis Center. This role focuses on carbon management, bio-based products, industrial energy systems, and large energy-load systems. Interns will collaborate with researchers to bridge the gap between foundational research and practical applications for energy solutions.
What you'll do#
- Conduct literature reviews and collect technical, economic, and environmental data.
- Support spreadsheet analysis and the development of technical documentation.
- Evaluate technology pathways using performance metrics.
- Summarize and present findings for researchers and project partners.
- Develop student-facing technical materials, case studies, and research presentations.
- Adapt technical information for community-college audiences and support workforce development activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited associate or bachelor’s degree program in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, energy systems, data science, applied mathematics, economics, or a related field.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Experience conducting literature reviews or organizing technical information.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote.
- The role is a paid, fixed-term internship.
- Work is performed in a remote environment with regular virtual mentoring and team meetings.
- All candidates must be authorized to access the facility per Department of Energy rules and must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Personal Identity Verification card.
