About the role#
The Computational Engineering Division is looking for an Energy Systems Analyst Graduate Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports research into energy systems modeling, technoeconomic and lifecycle assessments, and network optimization. You will work on projects related to synthetic fuels, hydrogen systems, and technology scale-up. This is a part-time position requiring 10 to 20 hours per week for a duration of 6 to 9 months.
What you'll do#
- Conduct technoeconomic and lifecycle assessments of synthetic fuels, biofuels, and hydrogen technologies.
- Develop and apply geospatial analysis and network optimization models using infrastructure and market data.
- Synthesize research findings to evaluate system configurations and technology scale-up potential.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and analysts in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Prepare technical summaries, presentations, and visualizations for project deliverables.
What you'll need#
- Status as a continuing student pursuing a graduate degree or completion of a bachelor's degree.
- Academic or research experience in chemical, environmental, mechanical, or industrial engineering, data science, economics, physics, or operations research.
- Experience or coursework in technoeconomic assessment, lifecycle assessment, geospatial analysis, network optimization, or energy systems modeling.
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, R, or GIS software.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.

- Compensation: $10,215 monthly.
- Note: This position requires compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act.
